The Bible is the inspired Word of God

Scripture speaks with the authority of God while simultaneously reflecting the backgrounds, styles and vocabularies of these human authors. We hold that the Scriptures, in their original manuscripts, are infallible and inerrant; they are the unique, full and final authority on all matters of faith and practice. There are no other writings similarly inspired by God.

The Holy Trinity

We believe there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons; the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory; that this triune God created all, upholds all, and governs all. (Gen. 1:26; 1 Jn. 5:7)

Salvation

We believe all people are by nature separated from God and responsible for their own sin, but that salvation, redemption and forgiveness are freely offered to all by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. When a person repents of sin and accepts Jesus Christ as his/her personal Lord and Savior, trusting Him to save, that person is immediately born again and sealed by the Holy Spirit, all of his/her sins are forgiven and that person becomes a child of God, destined to spend eternity with the Lord. (Rom. 3:23-26; 6:23; 10:9-10; 2 Cor. 5:17; Eph. 2:8-9)

Healing

We believe divine healing is an integral part of the gospel. Deliverance from sickness is provided for in the atonement, and is the privilege of all believers (Isaiah 53:4,5; Matthew 8:16,17; James 5:14-16).

 

Water Baptism

Baptism is an outward expression of an inward commitment to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We believe the decision to be baptized is up to the individual and that he or she must fully understand what it means to be a Christ follower.

 

The practice of the Lord’s Supper (Communion)

During Jesus’ last days, He gathered the disciples in a room and asked them to consume bread and wine “in remembrance” of Him. Two thousand years later, we regularly observe the act of consuming bread and grape juice as a community for the exact same reason—to remember our Savior, who sacrificed Himself for our sins.

 

The Church

All who acknowledge Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord are united with Him as members of His body, the one true church. Scripture commands believers to gather for worship, prayer, fellowship and the teaching of the Word; to observe Baptism and Communion as established by Jesus Christ; to offer service to the body through development and use of talents and gifts and outreach to the world. The local expression of the church is wherever God’s people meet regularly in obedience to this command. Cared for and led by Elders and leaders, church members are to work together in love and unity for the ultimate purpose of glorifying Christ (1 Cor. 12:12, 14, 20; Eph. 5:23).

 

The Baptism of the Holy Spirit

We believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and the expression of all gifts of the Spirit being for today. Further we believe in the evidence of speaking in tongues in order to edify and build yourself up in your most holy faith.

 

The Second Coming of Christ

We believe in the literal Second Coming of Christ with His saints to rule the earth, which will be personal and visible. We await the "catching away" of the church, we are motivated to holy living, heartfelt worship, committed service, diligent study of God’s Word, regular fellowship, participation in adult baptism by immersion and Holy Communion. (Mk. 13:26-27; 1 Thes. 4:16-17)

 

Eternal Destiny

Death seals the eternal destiny of each person. All humanity will experience a bodily resurrection and a judgment that will determine the fate of each individual. Having rejected God, unbelievers will suffer eternal judgment apart from Him. Believers will be received into eternal communion with God and will be rewarded for works done in this life.

 

Marriage

We believe that marriage, as ordained by God, is defined as being between one man and one woman. No other ceremony will be performed by an Ark Church Pastor or on Ark Church Property. (Gen. 2:23-24; 21:21; 29:21; Jer. 29:6; Rom. 7:2; 1 Cor. 7:2, 36, 39; Eph. 5:22-23, 25, 28-29, 31, 33)
